It's been a while since I've been to the Calgary Stampede (with friends). Last year I was in Taiwan. The two years before I think I only went to watch the Grandstand Show... or did I go with friends one of those years? Can't remember.
Going down on the free entry day is always nice since admission prices have skyrocketed (alongside the ticket things you need for rides and games). Entry and games aside though, everything in there is ridiculous expensive, which is the norm for these events since they have to make their money off from us somehow right?
Surprisingly I didn't spend any money playing those random games for plushies. Not entirely sure why but it might be a combination of 'man that's expensive' and 'why do I even need a plushy?'. They had some Pokemon ones there that might've been interesting to have, but my main gripe with the larger plushies that you can win is that they're not soft. What use have I for a unhuggable plushy? None.
Food-wise, I was a bit more adventurous this year, at the behest of another individual. Anyways, there was consumption of: Mini-donuts, poutine, cotton candy, mini-melts (dipping dots?), fried Oreos, fried Mars bar, fried Twix, oh and some granola bars. They're all atrociously unhealthy things... but taste-wise they're surprisingly good. o____o. Expensive too, considering what's going into making the food.
The shows that we watched were kind of neat too. Well, one show. There was this rock and roll / ice skating / acrobatic thing (the actual name escapes me) that was kind of cool. I've never seen figure skating in person, and all those jumps and twirls are just so amazing. The way the can spin.. then speed up... and not hurl is wow? Wow. Acrobatics wise... that guy is super buff XD. Also enjoyable to just walk around the Corral and look at all the wares that people are peddling.
Fun overall ^^.
In other news...
The 2010 World Cup Finals ended yesterday with Spain beating Netherlands 1 - 0! First half of the match was relatively unexciting (I in fact slept through most of it). Second half was a bit more exciting than the first, but nothing really happened till they went into extra time. They really messed up the pace of the game with all their fouls (more than 40) and a lot of yellow cards too (more than 10) including one red card. Shame. Interesting overall.... although the atmosphere and level of playing didn't match up to what one would think be a world cup final's standards.
So about that sleeping through the game bit, I chalk it up to not sleeping enough for the past I don't know how many days? I know I slept only 4 ish hours on Friday night and Saturday night (more like morning). Catching on sleep this morning was pretty good, although it feels like the more sleep I get, the more tired / head-achey I feel.
It always feels like I come up with questions and responses after the opportunity to do so passes. This actually happens way too often, i.e. in class.
Started a game called Demon's Souls. It is excruciatingly difficult. But oh so fun.
Onwards. It's another day...another day.
